What about the mobilisations in France ? Time for a first balance-sheet

After five national action days since early September, strikes all around the country, students blocking their schools and several demonstrations with more than 2, 3, or 5 million participants, the mobilizations against the pension reform in France seem to be halted.

Lessons of Lagena

Last year the tendency in Sweden got involved in a wild-cat strike at the Lagena warehouse, which
was to become very publicized. I believe that this struggle and the campaign around it contains a lot
of lessons. First, let us begin with the basics. Between 2000 and 2009 there were twenty-eight
unauthorized strikes in Sweden. During 2008 and 2009, there were three unauthorized strikes in
Sweden, and in total ten strikes with a total of 13649 participants (of which 244 took part in
unauthorized action). In other words, the Lagena struggle broke out in a situation of almost
complete lack of strike action (only 1560 work days were ”lost” during 2009). (more…)
